Agha Mohammad Khan Bravo: A Tribute to Tehran through Concept Jewelry
1 min read

In September 2016, I had the opportunity to be part of the Agha Mohammad Khan Bravo exhibition at Atbin Gallery, a unique group exhibition featuring concept jewelry from 60 artists. This exhibition explored the rich history and evolving character of Tehran, offering a nostalgic journey through the old and new facets of the city.
Jewelry, once considered a domain specific to certain genders or social classes, has evolved into a universal form of expression in today’s modern world. The influence of social media and global branding has expanded the audience for both high-end and more affordable jewelry, making it an integral part of the fashion industry. The Agha Mohammad Khan Bravo exhibition embraced this evolution by presenting concept jewelry inspired by Tehran’s past—combining elements of nostalgia from the sixties and earlier eras with modern design sensibilities.
The pieces on display captured the subtle beauty of craftsmanship, invoking feelings of nostalgia while also reflecting contemporary trends. For me, this intersection of tradition and modernity was particularly exciting, as it represents the dynamic and ever-changing nature of the jewelry industry. The combination of history, drama, and innovation is what makes jewelry design so compelling, and this exhibition was a perfect embodiment of that.
As a participant, it was inspiring to see how my fellow artists interpreted the concept of Tehran, creating pieces that not only evoked memories of the city but also pushed the boundaries of jewelry design. The exhibition was a celebration of both artistic creativity and cultural heritage, reflecting the power of jewelry as a medium of expression.
