One Thousand and One Glazed Plates: Art for a Cause
1 min read

In November 2016, I had the privilege of participating in the One Thousand and One Glazed Plates exhibition at the Shirin Gallery, a project managed by Azadeh Shouli. This unique initiative brought together artists from diverse fields such as painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, calligraphy, architecture, cinema, and music, all with the shared goal of creating a new visual culture within contemporary Iranian ceramics.
The project explored the artistic potential of ceramic painting techniques, with each artist contributing their interpretation to create one-of-a-kind glazed plates. The most meaningful aspect of this project, however, was its charitable mission—proceeds from the sale of these works were donated to the Children’s Medical Centre. It was a wonderful way for us, as artists, to use our talents to support a worthy cause, combining creativity with philanthropy.
For me, participating in this exhibition was a chance to not only showcase my work but also collaborate with artists from various disciplines, all contributing to a broader visual and cultural dialogue. The project was a powerful reminder of the role art can play in shaping culture and making a positive impact on society.
